Seeing Santa is free and taking photos is welcome, but please RSVP to ekoch@museumofdarien.org. Donations will benefit the Museum's educational programs. Have a Silhouette Portrait created between 11am-4pm, by renowned silhouette artist who will create individual portraits cut entirely freehand from paper. Subjects pose for silhouettes which are created in only a few minutes. These beautiful works of art are an ideal holiday gift, and a family heirloom that can be passed down through the generations. Join us for our annual Boxwood Tree Trimming works Join us for our annual Boxwood Tree Trimming workshop as we decorate our trees and sip champagne with new friends in anticipation of the holiday season. Did you know that all 3rd & 5th graders at Darien Public Schools have history tours with the Museum of Darien? We rely on community volunteers to keep the program running and would love your help! Come see what we are all about at an OPEN HOUSE on Election Day, Nov. 7 at 9:30-11am (45 Old Kings Highway North). It's the little red house right between Goodwives Shopping Center and the YWCA. We will have coffee and give tours of the 1736 Bates-Scofield house - the same tour the 3rd graders get! There's no school on Election Day so bring your children along. All ages welcome. Between 1780 and 1830, tens of thousands left Conn Between 1780 and 1830, tens of thousands left Connecticut to “begin the world anew” in places like Pennsylvania, Vermont, western New York, and especially, the Connecticut Reserve of what is now Ohio. Join us for a fast-paced and illustrated talk, where Walt Woodward, Connecticut State Historian emeritus, discusses the reasons behind Connecticut’s massive outmigration, the distinctive attributes of the people who chose to leave, and the very serious concerns their removal raised for those they left behind.
