Victorian Terrarium Workshop

Don your gardening gloves and join us for a fabulous evening as floral expert Melissa Kelley guides us through the steps of making a terrarium. Inspired by the Victorian Terrariums of the past, all materials are provided including the glass container, moss, dirt and plants

The Woven Collage Workshop for Grades 5-8

In this workshop, students in grades 5-8 will weave a collage out of found objects and up-cycled materials on a simple board loom. Materials and equipment will be provided, however we encourage students to bring a collection of items from home to use in their collage.

Visit with Santa at MoD

A Holiday tradition returns to the MoD. Santa is making a stop right here to sit and listen to our local children. Tis the Season to Believe! Register in advance for a 5 minute visit with Santa at the Hearth. Families welcome to take their own photos.

Join us for the annual Scary Stories To Tell in The Dark in partnership with the Darien Library. Bring your blanket and enjoy apple cider and donuts as we hear stories to 'chill you to the bone' by our talented Darien Library educators. Recommended for children 6 years and older. Annual Meeting and Lecture on Greens Ledge Lighthouse

This lecture will take place at First Congregational Church, followed by a reception at the Museum of Darien for a private view of our costume exhibit: Darien Dresses Up: 100 Years of Style! Speaker: Tim Pettee, President of The Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society, will discuss the incredible story of saving one of our area’s most important sea landmarks, and the history of New England Lighthouses with a focus on Sparkplug lighthouses. Celebrating 100 Years of Style

A MoD Fundraising Gala at this much anticipated exhibition celebrating '100 Years of Style' with 27 dresses from 1890-1990 and selected from the Museum's extensive collection. Designers on display include Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Pucci, Diane von Furstenberg and more.
