Memorial Day Parade
Meet at MoD at 9:30 am – Take off is at 10am Festive Dress Encouraged Come wave a flag with us! Join MoD Board Members and staff for a ride in an antique car or sail down the Post Road in our Middlesex Whaleboat as we commemorate this special day.
CT Open House
Free event for all ages Bring a friend and witness all we have to offer those who enjoy history. You’ll take a step back in time as you tour our current costume exhibit, Darien Dresses Up! and walk through our 1736 Colonial Salt Box house with our educators and curators. Watch a Weaver demonstrate how to spin wool into yarn on our newly refurbished Great Wheel and make sure to save time to enjoy our garden inspired craft project designed for all ages.

March Open House
Bring your family and friends and explore the Museum during our early spring Open House. Explore objects from our archives including our unseen 'Darien Review' bound-books dating from 1924, take a tour of the Homestead with our talented Museum Educators, or explore our current exhibition, Darien Dresses Up! with curators Lynn Sheppard and Cynthia Stamm.
The Woven Collage Workshop for Grades 5-8
In this workshop, students in grades 5-8 will weave a collage out of found objects and up-cycled materials on a simple board loom. Materials and equipment will be provided, however we encourage students to bring a collection of items from home to use in their collage.
Visit with Santa at MoD
A Holiday tradition returns to the MoD. Santa is making a stop right here to sit and listen to our local children. Tis the Season to Believe! Register in advance for a 5 minute visit with Santa at the Hearth. Families welcome to take their own photos.

The Silhouette Lady
One of our favorite holiday attractions. The Silhouette Lady returns to the Museum of Darien. Register in advance for a sitting time. Duplicate images and framing available on-site for additional fee.
Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark
Join us for the annual Scary Stories To Tell in The Dark in partnership with the Darien Library. Bring your blanket and enjoy apple cider and donuts as we hear stories to 'chill you to the bone' by our talented Darien Library educators. Recommended for children 6 years and older. Annual Meeting and Lecture on Greens Ledge Lighthouse
This lecture will take place at First Congregational Church, followed by a reception at the Museum of Darien for a private view of our costume exhibit: Darien Dresses Up: 100 Years of Style! Speaker: Tim Pettee, President of The Greens Ledge Light Preservation Society, will discuss the incredible story of saving one of our area’s most important sea landmarks, and the history of New England Lighthouses with a focus on Sparkplug lighthouses. Saturday, October 19, 7-10 pm
A MoD Fundraising Gala at this much anticipated exhibition celebrating '100 Years of Style' with 27 dresses from 1890-1990 and selected from the Museum's extensive collection. Designers on display include Oscar de la Renta, Bill Blass, Pucci, Diane von Furstenberg and more.
Trolley Through Time!
Join us for a driving history tour of Darien with Educators Sarah Das, Michele Mengwall, and Town Historian Sarah Lexow Keena as we explore historic sites.
