Be sure to visit the Middlesex at its last port of call for Summer 2020! The Whaleboat and volunteers will be at Hollow Tree Self Storage, 131 Hollow Tree Ridge Road, on Saturday, September 19 from 11 to 2. Stop down to say hello and learn about this important piece of Darien’s history!
To help buoy the community’s spirit and lend a hand to local establishments navigating during a turbulent time, the Museum of Darien celebrated the town’s Bicentennial year by joining forces with town organizations and businesses to promote this symbol loaded to the gills with Darien’s proud history — the Whaleboat Middlesex.
A special thank you to The Darien Foundation for its generous $14,000 grant to support the refurbishment of this hands-on artifact and its help to spread the word about this project, and to Hollow Tree Self Storage for donating space to store the boat!
And a shout out to all our ports of call this summer: Hollow Tree Self Storage, Pear Tree Point Beach, Ring’s End, Palmer’s Market, The Darien Sports Shop, Darien Library and The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s. THANK YOU, MATES!
