On Wednesday, August 19 from 10 to 2, look for the Whaleboat Middlesex and MoD volunteers at this outdoor market, in a location named after the early female settlers of Middlesex Parish.
A special thank you to our ports of call so far: Palmer’s Market, The Darien Sports Shop, Darien Library and The Waters Edge at Giovanni’s, where several patrons visited to learn more about the boat. This photo was taken in front of Darien Sports Shop. From left: Carl and Karen Boccadoro, living history actors and members of the CT Fifth Regiment, Carol Wilder-Tamme, guild speaker at the CT Society of Mayflower Descendents and Sara Zagrodzky, MoD’s education volunteer and a former board member. One lucky participant will win a $25 gift certificate, donated by the Sports Shop!
To help buoy the community’s spirit and lend a hand to local establishments navigating during a turbulent time, the Museum of Darien is joining forces with town organizations and businesses to celebrate the town’s 200th birthday this summer with a symbol loaded to the gills with Darien’s proud history — the Whaleboat Middlesex.
A special thank you to The Darien Foundation for its generous $14,000 grant to support the refurbishment of this hands-on artifact celebrating our local history!
